Chemical/Physical Nature

ZC-2011 gel coat resin is an isophthalic acid-neopentyl glycol type natural unsaturated polyester gel coat resin with isophthalic acid, maleic anhydride, neopentyl glycol and other standard diols as main raw materials. It has been dissolved in styrene cross-linking monomer, contains thixotropic additives, and has medium viscosity and medium reactivity.

Benefits and Application

ZC-2011 resin has excellent weather resistance, good strength, hardness and toughness, small shrinkage and good product transparency. It is suitable for the surface decoration and protective layer of FRP products or sanitary ware products by brushing process.

Application Guidelines

1. ZC-2011 gelcoat resin does not contain wax and accelerator, but contains thixotropic additive.
2. The mold should be treated in a standardized manner before use to meet the requirements of gel coat construction.
3. Color paste recommendation: active color paste for gel coat, 3-5%. The compatibility and hiding power of the color paste should be confirmed by on-site tests.
4. Recommended curing system: MEKP, 1.5~2.5% for gel coat curing agent: 0.5~2% for gel coat accelerator. Confirm by on-site tests during application.
5. Recommended gel coat dosage: wet film thickness 0.4~0.6mm, dosage 500~700g/m? Gel coat is too thin and prone to wrinkling or bottom exposure, too thick and prone to sagging, cracks or sand holes, uneven thickness and prone to wrinkling or local discoloration, etc.
6. When the gel coat is gelled to the point where it is not sticky, the next process (upper reinforcement layer) is made. If it is too early or too late, it is easy to produce wrinkles, exposed fibers, local discoloration or delamination, self-release, cracks, fissures, etc.
